Abercrombie & Fitch Reports October Sales

REYNOLDSBURG, Ohio, Nov. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Abercrombie & Fitch (NYSE: ANF) today reported net sales of $95.7 million for the four-week period ended October 28, 2000, a 26% increase from net sales of $76.2 million for the comparable four-week period ended October 30, 1999. Comparable store sales decreased 4% in the period compared with a 1% comparable store sales increase in October 1999.

Year-to-date, the Company reported a net sales increase of 19% to $805.1 million from $674.2 million last year. Comparable stores sales decreased 5% for the year-to-date period.

A lifestyle brand, Abercrombie & Fitch operated a total of 325 stores at the end of October, including 71 abercrombie stores and four Hollister Co. stores. The Company also operates a kids' e-commerce website at www.abercrombiekids.com , an adult e-commerce website at www.abercrombie.com and publishes the A&F Quarterly.
