Abercrombie & Fitch Reports April Sales Results

NEW ALBANY, Ohio, May 8, 2003 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Abercrombie & Fitch (NYSE: ANF) today reported net sales of $102.7 million for the four-week period ended May 3, 2003, a 14% increase over last year's April sales of $89.8 million. April comparable store sales decreased 3% compared with the four-week period ending May 4, 2002.

Year-to-date, the Company reported a net sales increase of 11% to $346.7 million from $312.8 million last year. Comparable store sales decreased 6% for the year-to-date period.

Abercrombie & Fitch operated a total of 602 stores at the end of April, including 165 abercrombie stores and 95 Hollister Co. stores. The Company also operates an e-commerce website at www.abercrombie.com, a kids' e-commerce website at www.abercrombiekids.com and publishes the A&F Quarterly.
