NEW ALBANY, Ohio, Jul 25, 2002 /PRNewswire/ -- If you can ride a bike, roller skate or run, Abercrombie & Fitch (NYSE: ANF) is looking for you. And if you just want to party for a good cause, we're looking for you too. On Thursday, August 22nd, Abercrombie & Fitch opens its doors to one of the most successful charity events of the season, the A&F Challenge. 100% of the proceeds will benefit the Center for Child and Family Advocacy, a partnership of the Columbus Coalition Against Family Violence and Children's Hospital of Columbus. The Center is the first of its kind in the nation to fully integrate treatment for child abuse and adult family violence victims.

The A&F Challenge will take place on the Abercrombie & Fitch campus, located at 6301 Fitch Path, New Albany, Ohio. The Challenge consists of three separate events, including a 20-mile cycling tour, a 5K inline skating tour and a 5K run. Doors open at 3:30 for event day registration with events beginning at 6:15 p.m. The entry fee is $25 the day of the event and includes live entertainment from Pat McGee Band, great food, beverages (beer and soft drinks) and a T-shirt. Bring Your ID. No admission fee for kids under 13.

To avoid waiting in line, participants are strongly encouraged to pre- register online at www.abercrombie.com or www.premierraces.com . Cost for pre- registration is $20 with an August 12th deadline. Participants can also enter by sending a $20 check made payable to the Center for Child and Family Advocacy to Premier Sports, 401 Charmel Place, Columbus, OH 43235 by August 12th. Applicants should include name, address, phone, e-mail, age, T-shirt size and indicate which event they will be entering.

Helmets are required for bikers and skaters. Bikers must be 18 to ride.

"This is our second year for the A&F Challenge. Last year we raised $200,000, and this year we expect to do even better. This is an amazing event -- located outdoors on our campus, with a fantastic band. It's a great opportunity to unwind while supporting a premier organization," said Tom Lennox, Senior Manager of Investor Relations and Corporate Communications for Abercrombie & Fitch.

Pat McGee Band (PMB) is based in Virginia and records on the Giant Records label. PMB has worked with Counting Crows, the Who and The Allman Brothers and will share the bill with Barenaked Ladies later this year. Over Labor Day weekend, PMB will headline in Key West, Florida.

The A&F challenge is sponsored by Abercrombie & Fitch. 100% of every entry fee will be donated to the Center for Child and Family Advocacy. WWCD 101.1 FM is the official radio media sponsor.
